The Chronicles of Narnia: Voyage of the Dawn Treader - A Royal Premiere

On 30 November 2010, I was lucky enough to attend the Royal premiere of the latest Narnia film, Voyage of the Dawn Treader. It was a truly special evening. Not only had Leicester Square been transformed with old-fashioned lamp-posts but the swirling snowflakes transported the red carpet straight to Narnia!

Now, when I attend fashion events alongside celebrities, insecurity, ego and insincerity tends to cloud the atmosphere. This leaves me rather nonchalant about my proximity to the A listers (although I am always star-struck by industry experts...Natalie Massenet, a buyer for Halston Heritage, Matthew Williamson....the list goes on)! The atmosphere at the Narnia premiere was entirely different. I think this may have something to do with the hoards of shouting paparazzi photographers and screaming pre-teens awaiting the arrival of One Direction (I have to admit, I was rather excited to be stood next to Rebecca Ferguson, Matt Cardle and John Adeleye). You can't help but feel a bit special with camera's flashing and the exclusivity of it all.

The seats were covered with a leopard-print pattern and we were all provided with popcorn, water and the fast-becoming obligatory 3D glasses. The best part, though, was yet to come....first, the entire cast took to the stage for the introduction and then....a procession of trumpet-players marched on to the stage to announce the arrival of the Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh! The musicians then played the National Anthem and finally...the film began!

Yes, some of the acting was rather forced but the special effects were great and it was very funny at times. Definitely worth taking your children/ young relatives to see!

Love,
